Dr. Swapnil Karnik M.D, is the Consultant Histopathologist at Ruby Hall clinic. He graduated from the B.J Medical College, Pune. After MD, he trained at the Christian Medical College and Hospital Vellore for nearly 6 years of which for 4 yrs as he was Consultant. He has more than 10 years experience in the field of Histopathology. He has developed modern Oncopathology laboratory at Ruby hall. This includes an Immunohistochemistry division, which has more than 50 tumor markers (the highest in Pune). There is an excellent Immunofluorescence Microscopy set up meant for Renal and dermatopathology.

A cytogenetics division is now established this includes Fluorescence in-situ hybridisation (FISH) testing. Dr Karnik's special interests are General oncopathology (including immunohistochemistry), Renal pathology (including immunofluorescence microscopy, Lymphomas and Transplant pathology ( Renal and Bone Marrow). He has a flair for teaching and has four publications to his credit. Currently he has ongoing research projects on Breast cancer and Brain tumours in collaboration with the NCCS (National Center for Cell sciences), Pune.
