At Ruby Hall Clinic Kamalnayan Bajaj Cancer Centre,
Oncology Social Work Services are available to patients
and families throughout all phases of the cancer experience,
including prevention, diagnosis, and survivorship. When
cure is not possible, oncology social workers are also
involved in terminal care and bereavement.

vAssists
the person with cancer and his/her family members to
identify their potential emotional, spiritual, and practical
needs might be in relation to their diagnosis &
to plan interventions accordingly.
v Counselling
for patients/family members to promote optimal emotional
health and coping. Counselling can address issues such
as depression, anxiety, stress, effects on family and
relationships, palliative care, grief counselling among
other topics.
v Organize
Support group activities. This support is extended not
just for the patients but also to family members, friends
and health care professionals. Support is offered through
complementary therapies, counselling, information and
educational and supportive programmes.
v Provide
information about and referral to community resources
for assistance with financial concerns, transportation
issues, and lodging during treatment.
v Provide
financial assistance to needy patients.
v Disseminate
cancer-related information and referral to service organizations.
v Practice
and conduct research in cancer-related services and
concerns including treatment adherence, survivorship,
caregiver issues, and cancer-related health care policy.
The Oncology Social Worker at Ruby
Hall Cancer Centre Medical Social Service Department
are also involved in
vPsychosocial
Assessment: The Oncology Social Worker does assessment
of the patient and family, as to the patient's illness,
physical/mental/cognitive functioning, mood, needs,
education, and occupational experiences, mental health
history, and other relevant information. The purpose
of this assessment is to assist in the development of
the patient's treatment and discharge plans in concert
with the physician, nursing staff and other health care
team members involved with the patient.
vPsychosocial
Interventions: Interventions to help and encourage
patient/family in adjusting to illness, disability and/or
hospitalization in order that the maximum potential
for physical, psychological and social recovery can
be attained; Grief and loss counseling, and support
groups are also offered.

Outreach Programs: Ruby Hall Clinic has steadfastly
