Paediatrics Orthopedics
Paediatric Orthopaedics deals with children’s orthopedic problems which are seen at birth or during growth of the child. Some of the problems presenting at birth are- clubfoot (CTEV),( Foot turned inwards) , valgus foot ( foot turned outwards), dislocation of hip, dislocation of knee, torticolis (neck turned to one side) , obstetrical brachial plexus palsy. Some problems encountered during growth of a child are- Flat feet, Intoe gait, Genu varus.(bow legs), Genu valgus (knock knees), Fractures.
Timing of treatment in children is most important as most of these conditions can be treated by simple plasters and minor surgery. Cerebral palsy is a condition in which children find it difficult to walk. They can be made better by botox therapy and surgery.
