Expert Critical Care, Everyday

Intensive Care Units, or ICUs, are specialised hospital wards where patients with unstable or critically ill conditions receive top critical care.

A patient in an intensive care unit (ICU) may be unable to breathe on their own or be experiencing multiple organ failure, necessitating continuous medical care and support. These tasks will be replaced by medical equipment while the patient heals.

When to admit a patient into an ICU

There are several circumstances in which a person may be admitted to an ICU, including after surgery, an accident, or a severe illness.

  • Specialised monitoring equipment
  • A high degree of medical expertise
  • Constant access to highly trained nurses
