Critical Care

Our specialised critical care unit includes:

• Coronary Care Unit: The CCU caters to patients with cardiac ailments and patients post-interventional cardiology procedures for continuous monitoring.
• Intensive Care Unit: The ICU caters to critically ill patients with medical or surgical conditions.
• Neuro Trauma Unit: The NTU primarily caters to patients with acute neurological conditions and post-neurosurgery patients who require specialised care.
• Stroke and Neuro Unit: The SNU is dedicated to patients of stroke with rehabilitation services for complete recovery.
• Cardiac Recovery Unit: The Cardiac Recovery Unit is a dedicated unit for post-cardiac surgical patients-both adult and paediatric-manned by cardiac anaesthetists offering rigorous haemodynamic monitoring.
• Transplant ICU: The Transplant ICU is dedicated to post-operative management of transplant patients.
• Paediatric ICU: The PICU takes care of critically ill children presenting with medical or surgical conditions.
• Neonatal ICU: The NICU takes care of newborn babies requiring specialised care, phototherapy, or interventions and also caters to neonates with critical ailments and low birth weight babies.

Human Resources

Dr. Prachee Sathe, our founder and director, founded the ICU department in 1991 to create a state-of-the-art facility. She received training in the UK through an International Fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh. With a 2:1 patient-to-nurse ratio, committed support staff, and a Medical Emergency Team that ensures quick response throughout the hospital, her team of skilled intensivists treats over 15,000 critically ill patients daily.

Equipment and Instruments

For both invasive and non-invasive monitoring, we have the newest multiparameter monitors with a central monitor. Each bed has the latest monitors, ventilator support, syringe pumps for minute drug quantity monitoring, etc.

The Patients

These ICUs are capable of treating patients with complex medical problems like septicaemia, multi-organ failure (renal failure, respiratory failure, cardiac failure, etc.), various types of poisoning, high-risk and complicated surgical patients, road traffic accidents, post-renal and liver transplant patients, diabetic complications, etc.

Quality Control

We are dedicated to providing care that enhances the quality of life for our patients. Strict protocols and ongoing peer review guarantee the best possible results. We use severity scoring systems (APACHE II, SAPS II) and ICU audits in conjunction with frequent interdepartmental consultations to monitor adherence to protocol and analyse results. Our high standards for top critical care for patients, hygiene, and infection control are supported by ongoing internal training for medical and nursing staff.
